Hi Karen
Love your website and blog!
I’ve been meaning to contact you. Quite an amazing son you have! Venturing out in the crazy weather we had before Christmas in search of your gift and hiking over 2kms to get to us! I am sure that is a story the two of you will not soon forget!
I hope all is well with you and your family.
Have a Fantastic New Year!

Karen,
I’ve known about the enneagram for about 15 years and have been typed by a master teacher as a “one”, which at first I resisted but have gradually come to see how it fits. I also own a business (some tennis and fitness clubs) and we use the Predictive Index therein for hiring purposes. I’ve recently joined an enneagram study group and I asked all participants to fill out a P.I. My thesis was/is that there must be some correlation between P.I. scores and ennea types. For instance, it seems reasonable to me that all “ones” would have high “D’s” (i.e. rule followers, risk avoiders, not wanting to make a mistake) and all “fives” would have low “B’s” and all “seven’s” would have high “B’s”. But I’ve seen some other patterns that are intriguing. Like – many self proclaimed sixes have an A-D conflict (making them swing between opposites as your post on 6 suggests). There are also several people with the P.I. version of the chameleon pattern (all points around the average)…I’m wondering if that pattern fits the “nine” ennea type.
It seems like there are some good possibilities here but I’m not sure if I’m on to something or not. I’m wondering if you (or anyone you know) has worked with this idea any and if so, if you’d be willing to share what you’ve found.
thanks….I’ve enjoyed exploring your website.
Pat
Hi Pat,
It is always interesting to explore the correlation between personality systems and I believe you will always find area’s that overlap and show some patterns.
One company I worked with, used the PI as part of the hiring process and I was fully trained in interpreting the results. I have not done any research to compare the characteristics found between the PI and someone’s enneagram type as you highlight here.
My experience in looking at other systems with the enneagram, is that they are limited in being able to cover all 9 types with any consistency. You are absolutely finding certain points that are very likely to be true such as a high D relating to type one and the 6′s having an A-D conflict however I do not believe there are enough patterns to cover all types.
I appreciate this exploration and conversation and am happy to share further thoughts if you would like to call me sometime.
Cheers,
Karen
Been struggling with being an “8″ lately. Pulled out my manual from the class I attended last year. Amazing what a little refresher can do! Thank you Karen and the Enneagram.
Great to hear that you took the time to review the manual Karen, we all need reminders once in awhile. I find that when people volunteer for the panels at my workshops that they often comment on how much it reminded them of good tips and awarenesses. It is important to review material that supports us as we hear enough about our challenges with day to day living. Keep shining your beautiful light Karen!

hi karen:
i saw your comments about planning. i recently read an article on system d – the second largest economy in the world behind the usa. i would recommend you google system d. the qualities of system d are so required for a business these days. i wish you well.

Hi Edd,
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and comment. I took a look at your website and the Transformation Centre sounds very interesting. I wish you all the best in this new year of great opportunities!
Karen
Dear Karen,
Thank you for you nice bright energy.
Here by I inform you that I am organising two workshops in Cape Town on the topics of “The Sufi understanding of the Enneagram” and one on the topic of “Birth”, that are planned for the beginning of March of this year. They will be directed by Shaykh Amanoullah Philippe de Vos who will come from France to spread his wisdom and knowledge, the first time that a Sufis Master comes to teach enneagram in the Western Cape. He is an international speaker who has for 15 years being teaching throughout France, Belgium, Switzerland, India, USA, Jamaica, Senegal, Mali and Ethiopia. He is one of the Masters of the Naqshbandi Golden Chain and also received permission from Masters of Wisdom in India to transmit the energy-consciousness regardless of the spiritual paths followed, without prejudice, because the Light is One. Philippe de Vos dedicated his life to spread Oneness, organizing workshop and retreat all over the world, awaking people to the immensity of the Ocean. I have been following Shaykh Philippe Amanoullah de Vos since few years now, and have seen some wonderful individual and collective transformations thanks to processes including conscious energy/breathing/and harmonic music using frequencies (Monroe Institute), whatever the religion and origin.
I am thinking that maybe you would like to meet him, and that you could help us passing on the message. Warm regards. David
Hi David – what a beautiful message to read and I would dearly love to come in March to South Africa because I Love the country, to meet you and Phillipe de Vos and to experience this work. It is a bit too short notice for this time and I am booked for another course the week of the 12th. I am happy to share your message and will look up the work you speak of. Keep in touch with me and I wish you magic as you share the light of Oneness! There are many of us around the globe now who are bringing forth the light – it is time! Blessings to you.
Karen
Hi Karen!
How are you? I left you a voice message a few weeks ago. I would love to connect soon to discuss some global transforming initiatives that I am a part of, one of which will be uniting “Wise Women” on an global level. I am in San Diego for a business meeting with a “Wise Woman” from Florida and will be returning on Friday. Is there any way we can meet up for a tea within the next few weeks?
Thanks and looking forward to reconnecting again.
James Griffin
Hi James – I did get your message and look forward to setting up a time. Wednesday’s have more flexibility however call me and we’ll find a suitable time for both of us. Enjoy San Diego – my son is there right now too on a leadership conference! Safe travels and talk to you soon,
Karen
