Creating Balance for New Beginnings

“The beginning is always today.” ~Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley~

I recently flew out to Calgary to get our youngest son set up at University.  He was required to arrive early for pre-season training with the varsity men’s soccer team and I jumped at the opportunity to spend a few days together and move him into residence.  We had a great time and I was able to appreciate the commitment he had made to his soccer that gained him a spot on the team and he was able to appreciate the support that he always received at home that enabled him to focus on his training.

Now was the new beginning for both of us because our children’s growth is also our growth!  He will take over from here – the responsibility for his living arrangements, his training and his academics.  I on the other hand, have been released from my usual support duties and take over the role of cheer leader and advisor IF I get asked!

I arrived home excited for his new beginnings and yet there was an emptiness that was present too.  I told my husband – it’s not a left brain issue, it’s a heart issue.  You see, I do not want anything different for him. I want him to feel confident to take on his life and expand his learning in all ways – it’s perfect.  The heart issue is letting go – knowing the precious time of growing up under our roof has come to its end and I will miss him terribly.

You would think that by the third son I would be a pro!  However I am learning that I still must go through the individual experience of letting go. What I do know this time is that life goes on and new things open up for me too. That the relationship I have with each of our boys was enriched by them leaving – they appreciated the love and warmth of home when they returned. They matured with the new life experiences that they were able to have and this wheel of life really is perfect. So the tears come when I least expect them and they pass. I get to hear about the exciting new adventures that are unfolding (though I am sure they are censored for mom’s ears).  I am also blessed with new space in my life to fill with things for me.

It is also my new beginning to create new in my life.  Clarity for this only comes after I process my emotions so I have learned how important it is to book time with my reiki master. I get to honour where I am and make peace with that.  Only then will there be space to create the new. Once I am balanced – the clarity comes easily and effortlessly.

So what new beginnings are unfolding in your life right now?  Is it calling for you to let go?, to make peace with the current shifts?, to create new? Is there someone you can reach out to for support if needed?  I am here and ready to be a support to those who are ready to move forward.  All you have to do is ask!

I’d love your feedback! Here on this blog, you’ll get commentluv. This is a wonderful opportunity to leave a link back to your own site.

Until next time,

Thanks Celeste – sometimes we feel alone with our emotions however it is so amazing how connected we all are in experiencing them. I love to support others in bringing understanding and balance and have learned to reach out and ask for help when I need it now. It’s quite miraculous really. I accept your loving wishes with gratitude!

You make me smile as I think of your gifted writing Jill…we learn from each other don’t we! I could not imagine doing anything else with my life unless it adds to the focus of what I already do and love. Thanks for sharing the journey.

What a beautiful account of travelling along one of the spokes of the wheel of life, Karen. You feel, express and are healing from your heart’s response to this monumental change in your life. You did a brilliant job of helping me do the same when I experienced a monumental change in my life and even worked yourself out of a job because you healed me so well. Thank you for all that you do and all that you are, Karen. You make life on earth, for those who know you, a graceful experience.
