“According to A Course in Miracles, everything in life involves relationship. Relationships with other people are “assignments,” in which two or more are brought together for maximal and mutual growth opportunity. Our relationships can be trips to heaven or trips to hell, depending on how we ourselves choose to perceive and interact with others.
Relationships can generate fear or they can generate love. It is through relationships that we either fall into patterns of limitation that would consistently hold us back, or rise to our most creative possibilities in life.”
Thanks to my Reiki Master, Dean Noblett of Heartlight for recently posting this on Facebook. It immediately reminded me of the most vital relationship of all – the one we have with ourselves. I often say, “We do not see the world as it is, we see the world as We Are!” It is in this text that I have been drawn in my life to Reiki and The Enneagram, as I have found both of these practices continually lead me back to my truth. Over the years in my practice, I have combined the power of these two teachings so that clients first get to understand their preferred view of thinking, feeling and acting in the world, (their Enneagram type) and then we can work on connecting to their body with reiki.
Our body is communicating to us all the time however we have not been tuned in to pay attention as much to it as we have been to our thinking. So – we start to get a headache and we say to ourselves, I don’t have time for this…push on! Or take a pill and push on. How many times do we get hungry on a busy day and either postpone the urge to nourish our body or just grab the first thing handy and gulp it down. Neither choice is honouring to our body. We like the idea of being balanced, productive and joyful however many of us are caught in the web of this fast paced life and do not take the time to create the foundation for how we want to feel.
The power of our body is:
- It carries on brilliantly despite our lack of attention. We may not feel fantastic but many have forgotten what that feels like anyway!
- It eventually gets our attention if the dis-harmony is too much for it to resolve without our cooperation. The signs get too big to ignore and we simply can not carry on in the manner we want to whether it is constant headaches, digestive issues, high blood pressure or a more serious illness.
What I have noticed in my practice is that once my male clients realize the benefit of making regular appointments, they commit fully. The next session is booked before leaving the office and they do not have to put it on the “to do” list. My female clients on the other hand tend to call when they are in crisis! I just “have to see you” is the call I will get. The build up of stress in their lives is causing more challenge than they can ignore and it’s time to come back into balance. We get to choose how to support ourselves. My experience both personally and with my clients is that many women still have a pattern of putting themselves last. I can handle IT – whatever IT is! We pay a price for this choice and it’s not typically a monetary price at first! It’s a quality of life price.
With the work I do – my field of awareness is tuned into how I am doing. I need to be as clear and balanced as possible in order to support my clients and therefore I do make a commitment to look after my well-being. Of course this is a journey for me too so I get to continually fine tune my abilities which is wonderful. We are always learning. I have set up my practice to support those who make a commitment by having a pricing structure that lowers the unit cost with more sessions purchased.
So – How are you doing? Really? Get honest with yourself and if you could be supporting your health and joy more, then make a commitment to yourself to check into options. I am happy to support your journey.
I’d love your feedback. Here on my blog, you’ll get commentluv. This is a wonderful opportunity to leave a link back to your own blog.
Until next time,
